Professional career history
The best place to read about my professional career is on LinkedIn but here is the short version:
All of my career has been in technology – either running, leading, or building digital businesses from the nascent beginnings of the Internet.
I sit at the intersection of technology and business in so much as I have a deep technical background merged with large commercial business experience.
Currently I am Chief Digital and Information Officer at The Ministry of Justice where I look after a £1 billion+ technology business with around 600 people.
I have experience spanning ecommerce, technology, digital transformation, multichannel, agile software development, strategy, and marketing across many industries including retail, banking, public sector, financial services and wholesale.
My early career was as a techie working in computer science, consulting and start-ups roles. However after my MBA, I have specialised in large commercial roles leading digital businesses for Booker Group, Morrisons, Lloyds Banking Group and Oracle.
I believe that digital is more than just about the front end – it is the end to end service design. Digital and technology play a big part in business transformation, but you cannot put digital on a broken process and expect to see improvements.
